Magson Retail & Distribution has announced the appointment of Saibal Chandra Banerjee as its new Chief Executive Officer. He joins the company from Wellness Forever Medicare, where he last served as Senior Vice President – Merchandising. Banerjee brings over two decades of retail and merchandising leadership experience, having held key positions across major consumer brands and modern retail chains in India and abroad.
A Science graduate from the University of Calcutta, Banerjee also holds a Master of Business Management (MBM) in Marketing from the same university. He began his career in 1999 with Reckitt Benckiser as an Area Sales Supervisor, and over the years, has built a strong track record in sales, category management, and strategic retail leadership.
His career trajectory includes roles at Balsara Home Products, Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting, Dabur India, and an international stint as National Sales Manager with the Watanmal Group in Ghana. In 2008, Banerjee joined Spencer’s Retail, where he spent nearly a decade progressing through various senior merchandising roles. His last role there was Additional General Manager & Head – Merchandising and Analytics, where he led zonal teams and drove topline and bottomline growth.
He then served as CEO at Kathmandu Farmers Market, followed by a leadership role at Foodhall India as Chief Merchandising Officer. At Wellness Forever Medicare, he took on increasing responsibilities, culminating in his promotion to Senior Vice President – Merchandising.
Known for his ability to analyze business challenges and develop practical solutions, Banerjee is expected to be a valuable asset in driving Magson Retail & Distribution into its next chapter of growth and transformation.
