IndusInd Bank Limited has announced the appointment of Balaji Narayanamurthy as its new Chief Data Officer (CDO), effective December 1, 2025. He joins the bank’s Senior Management team, bringing more than 25 years of expertise across banking, analytics, data science, technology, and artificial intelligence.
In his new role, Mr. Narayanamurthy will lead the bank’s data strategy, governance frameworks, and enterprise-wide digital initiatives aimed at strengthening IndusInd Bank’s data-driven decision-making and transformation agenda.
Prior to joining IndusInd Bank, he held senior leadership roles at Axis Bank, including President & Head of the Business Intelligence Unit and Head of Enterprise AI. He also served on the Board of FreeCharge Payment Technologies.
Before his tenure in the Indian banking sector, Mr. Narayanamurthy spent nearly a decade in the US credit card industry, holding leadership positions with Barclaycard US, where he served as Group Director – Analytics, and earlier with Capital One, where he managed analytics and credit policy functions. He began his career as a Management Associate at Citi Bank India.
Mr. Narayanamurthy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from IIT Chennai and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from IIM Lucknow. His extensive background across analytics, AI, and digital banking is expected to play a key role in accelerating IndusInd Bank’s innovation and technology-led growth.
