bigbasket, a Tata Enterprise, has announced the appointment of Amit Nanda as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), marking a key leadership transition as the company prepares for its next phase of growth in India’s rapidly evolving quick commerce and online grocery market.

Nanda succeeds co-founder Hari Menon, who, along with co-founder Vipul Parekh, will continue to remain actively involved with the company as Board members and mentors. Both founders will work closely with Nanda and the leadership team in shaping bigbasket’s strategic direction and future growth plans.

A seasoned business leader, Nanda brings more than two decades of experience across e-commerce, consumer goods, and consumer banking. He joins bigbasket from Amazon India, where he spent nearly 12 years in a variety of leadership roles across marketplace, product, technology, sales, and private brands.

Most recently, he served as Director, Selling Partner Services, leading initiatives focused on strengthening Amazon India’s marketplace ecosystem. During his tenure, he also played a significant role in building and scaling Amazon’s private brands business and overseeing large-scale operations. Prior to Amazon, Nanda held leadership positions at Hindustan Unilever and Citibank, building expertise across consumer businesses, brand management, and banking services.

On his appointment, Amit Nanda said: “I am incredibly excited to join bigbasket and build upon the phenomenal trust it has established with millions of consumers across India. Combining bigbasket’s customer-first values with the trusted legacy of the Tata Group creates a strong foundation for the future. I have deep admiration for the organization Hari and the team have built – particularly its powerhouse private labels. I look forward to partnering closely with Hari and the entire leadership team to drive our shared vision and capture the massive growth opportunities before us.”

As CEO, Nanda will focus on accelerating bigbasket’s growth strategy, strengthening its position in the quick commerce segment, driving innovation across the business, and enhancing customer experiences. His extensive experience in scaling consumer-focused businesses and managing large operational ecosystems is expected to support the company’s ambitions in an increasingly competitive market.

The appointment comes at a time when India’s quick commerce sector is witnessing rapid expansion, with companies investing heavily in delivery infrastructure, product assortment, technology, and customer engagement to meet rising consumer demand.
