Lyft has appointed Senthil Padmanabhan as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective July 20, 2026. He will report directly to CEO David Risher and will lead the company’s engineering organization, driving its technology strategy and AI-powered innovation.

Padmanabhan joins Lyft from eBay, where he most recently served as Vice President of Engineering after being recognized as a Technical Fellow. During his tenure, he led the transformation of eBay’s core engineering platform, applications, and infrastructure, helping the company strengthen its leadership in key categories such as Parts & Accessories and Collectibles while improving the performance of its global e-commerce platform.

He also spearheaded a company-wide AI transformation that enhanced customer experiences, significantly increased engineering productivity, enabled ten times more deployments, and expanded experimentation capabilities sixfold over the past four years.

At Lyft, Padmanabhan will oversee the engineering foundations that power the company’s products and services. His appointment comes as Lyft continues to invest in AI to accelerate innovation, improve experiences for riders and drivers, and strengthen its technology platform for future growth.

Commenting on his appointment, Senthil Padmanabhan said:

“Lyft has a clear purpose, a product millions of people love and rely on every day, and a team that genuinely cares about getting it right. My job is to make sure the Lyft ceiling keeps rising – using technology to multiply what we can achieve and unlock what wasn’t possible before.”

With decades of engineering leadership experience, Padmanabhan is expected to play a key role in advancing Lyft’s technology capabilities and supporting the company’s long-term innovation strategy.
