Vanguard India Appoints Dr. Monojit Banerjee as Chief Risk Officer

Vanguard India has appointed Dr. Monojit Banerjee as Chief Risk Officer, where he will be responsible for advancing the company’s risk agenda, strengthening enterprise resilience, enhancing risk capabilities, and supporting the organization’s long-term growth and success.

Dr. Banerjee brings more than two decades of experience across risk management, governance, regulatory oversight, operational resilience, and business transformation, with a career spanning leading global financial institutions. His professional experience includes senior leadership roles at JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and Credit Suisse.

Before joining Vanguard India, Dr. Banerjee was Managing Director at JPMorgan Chase, where he served as Global Lead for Compliance and Risk Testing Data Strategy & Automation and Regional Head for the Testing Centre of Excellence for India and the Philippines. Prior to this, he was Global Head of Risk Governance, Issue & Error Management and Regional Risk and Control Lead for Asset Wealth Management for India and the Philippines.

Earlier in his career, he held risk and compliance leadership positions at Goldman Sachs and Credit Suisse, covering operational risk, risk governance, regulatory compliance, vendor risk oversight, and operational resilience.

At Vanguard India, Dr. Banerjee is expected to leverage his experience in building risk frameworks, strengthening governance and resilience, and using data, analytics, automation, and emerging technologies to enhance risk management capabilities.

He has also emphasized the importance of developing high-performing teams and fostering cultures built around accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning. His areas of expertise include enterprise and operational risk management, AI governance, regulatory engagement, risk and control frameworks, third-party and outsourcing risk, operational resilience, data strategy, automation, and business process transformation.

Dr. Banerjee holds a Doctor of Business Administration in Operational Risk from SP Jain School of Global Management. He has also completed an Executive Program on Global Business Management from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta and holds other academic qualifications in accounting, finance, and related disciplines.
