KPI Green Energy Ltd., a leading player in India’s renewable energy sector, has announced the appointment of Surinder Kumar Negi as its Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective March 12, 2025. Negi brings an impressive track record with over four decades of leadership experience in power transmission, renewable energy and infrastructure development.
In his new role, Negi will focus on scaling renewable energy projects, enhancing transmission infrastructure and expanding KPI Green Energy’s domestic and international presence. His deep expertise in large-scale project execution, grid integration and operational efficiency is expected to propel the company’s next growth phase.
Negi is a seasoned power sector professional, holding a degree in electrical engineering from G.B. Pant University, Pantnagar. Throughout his career, he has played a pivotal role in modernizing power transmission networks and driving infrastructure development across India.
He has held prominent leadership roles, including serving as Managing Director of Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation (GETCO). Under his leadership, GETCO added numerous new substations and thousands of kilometers of transmission lines, expanding Gujarat’s power grid to support a significant increase in generation capacity. He led substantial infrastructure investments, achieving industry-leading efficiency and enhancing system availability to near-optimal levels. His efforts were instrumental in ensuring uninterrupted power supply across the state.
Negi has also contributed to major high-voltage transmission projects, system planning and privatization initiatives during his tenure with NTPC, POWERGRID, ALSTOM and Reliance Energy. Additionally, he serves as a Director at Skipperseil Ltd. and Manacles Transformers, where he has spearheaded advanced manufacturing, optimized EPC operations and led renewable energy projects across India and Africa.
