Tata Projects Limited has appointed Sukumar Hebbar as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. He succeeds Vinayak Pai, who has led the company since 2022. The appointment comes as the technology-led engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company continues to strengthen its presence across urban infrastructure, data centres, industrial EPC, and sustainable energy projects.
Hebbar joins Tata Projects after more than three and a half decades with Larsen & Toubro (L&T), where he most recently served as Senior Vice President and IC Head of the Transportation Infrastructure business. In this role, he oversaw the Roads, Bridges & Formation, and Railways portfolios while contributing to the company’s growth across multiple infrastructure segments.
Over the course of his career, Hebbar has built extensive expertise in infrastructure development, engineering execution, and business leadership. His accomplishments include developing L&T’s Health Business Unit into a profitable business vertical, securing major data centre EPC orders, and leading the delivery of landmark projects such as the Ram Mandir, Navi Mumbai International Airport, and Kartavya Bhawan.

Hebbar holds a degree in Architecture from Mysore University and has completed INSEAD’s Advanced Management Programme in Organisational Leadership. He began his professional journey in 1990 as a Graduate Engineer Trainee and went on to lead several of L&T’s most significant business units during his tenure.
His appointment is expected to further strengthen Tata Projects’ leadership team as the company accelerates its growth strategy across urban infrastructure, industrial projects, clean energy, and digital infrastructure. The company has been expanding its capabilities in sectors such as semiconductors, giga factories, data centres, transportation, power, water, and sustainable engineering solutions, positioning itself as one of India’s leading technology-led EPC firms.
