Ujala Cygnus, a Delhi-based hospital chain known for its presence in underserved markets, has announced the appointment of Nitin Nag as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
Nag brings with him nearly three decades of leadership experience across healthcare and IT, having worked across India, the UK, the US, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, and Malaysia. His appointment comes at a pivotal time as Ujala Cygnus continues to expand its footprint across Tier-II and Tier-III regions.
Before joining Ujala Cygnus, Nag served as Chief Operating Officer at Cloudnine Hospitals, where he led national expansion efforts, launched new service lines, and helped turn around underperforming units. He also previously held the COO role at Manipal Ankur, a joint venture between Ankur and Manipal Hospitals. Earlier in his career, Nag held leadership roles at Tech Mahindra and MphasiS, focusing on business operations and strategic growth.
Commenting on the leadership change, Ujala Cygnus stated that Nag’s appointment aligns with its vision to strengthen its hospital network and improve access to high-quality clinical care in emerging regions.
Supported by US-based private equity firm General Atlantic and the Amar Ujala Group, Ujala Cygnus recently acquired a 60% stake in Punjab-based Amandeep Hospitals. This move significantly bolstered its regional presence.
With this strategic partnership, the company now operates 26 hospitals with a total capacity of nearly 2,800 beds, spanning states such as Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and Haryana.
